Gaining Insight Through Training (GIFT), a technical training programme for television production practitioners, instituted by Supersport as a means of technology transfer yields first fruits.
The programme was conceived in 2008 initially for Camera Operators, as Supersport brought in new high technology equipment that the operators had never worked with. However, it was not long before the trainers realized that the programme had to be extended to cover other disciplines of production
The first batch of trainees commenced the expanded course work in 2011, with focus on 3 major disciplines;Camera Work, Audio Control and Vision Control.
Felix Awogu, General Manager, SuperSport West Africa, said: “SuperSport prides itself with world class production facilities and takes up training and development of a credible base of technical resource within Nigeria as a must-do. A program that started as ad hoc training was expanded to a fully fledged production course free of charge to participants.”
The first batch of trainees were drawn from across different production houses and do not necessarily work for SuperSport.
