Super Eagles: Justice Roli Harriman likely to head CAF body to take decision on Libya debacle

A Nigerian judge, Justice Roli Harriman, is the Chairman of the Appeal Committee, the highest adjudication panel of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), that will likely make a final decision on the botched Libya, Nigeria 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier earlier scheduled to hold today.

The Super Eagles pulled out of the match after the Nigerian contingent was held hostage for about 15 hours following the diversion of their aircraft initially scheduled to land in Benghazi to Al-Abraq, Libya.

CAF has referred the matter to its Disciplinary Board for investigation and adjudication but the decision of the nine-man panel can still be appealed within the CAF legal system and incidentally, the body to handle the matter at the ‘apex court’ is headed by a Nigerian

Justice Harriman, a 62–year–old High Court judge and former senior lecturer at the Nigerian Law School, was appointed by CAF as the President of its Appeal Board in 2023. She replaced compatriot A. U. Mustapha (SAN) as the head of CAF’s ultimate judicial body.
Ousmane Kane of Senegal heads the Disciplinary Board.
