The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday unveiled Sunday Oliseh as the Head Coach for the Super Eagles.
President of the federation, Amaju Pinnick, said that Oliseh would be the Technical Head of the senior national team for three years, with a provision for extension.
Pinnick said that NFF would immediately pay three months’ salary of Oliseh and his assistants in advance to show the seriousness and commitment of the federation.
“We just unveiled our new Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh, to steer the ship of Nigerian football as the head of technical for the next three years with a proviso of an extension.
“It is a performance-based contract that we offered to him. He keys into our vision of sustainable football development and that is what we should expect.“
Responding, Oliseh said he would do his best to ensure that the Super Eagles improved on their performance.
He expressed the hope that the NFF would keep its promise of support to enable him to succeed, saying: “as my employers, I have to appreciate the distinction at all times“.
“My plan for the Super Eagles is to try to get us to play as a better team.
“Create some harmony, create some style of play that each player has some idea of what we ask of them when they are playing.
“I am not coming as a messiah; I am not coming as a man, who knows the work; I am not coming as someone, who can, alone, just turn Nigeria into Germany.
“But I am coming to serve my country and I am ready to give my 150 per cent, if need be.“
