Man arraigned for beating mother-in-law, injuring her

A 53-year-old man, Adedeji Olumuyiwa, just released from prison in April, is back in court again over alleged burglary and stealing in Osogbo, Osun State.
Olumuyiwa, who was previously convicted for stealing, was on Wednesday, brought before a Chief Magistrates Court, sitting in Osogbo, for the same offence.
The ex-convict was released from Ilesa Prisons in April, after serving a six-month jail term for stealing some ball pens and rulers.
The accused, of no fixed address, was re-arrested on Friday, and is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the accused, on May 26, unlawfully broke into the shop of one Abimbola Comfort, located around Government Technical College, Osogbo.
Abiodun said the accused, thereafter, stole three empty crates of soft drinks, half bag of rice, packs of indomie noodles, some onions, eggs, vegetable oil and palm oil, all valued at N40,000.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390 and Section 413(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Dada Adeyinka, applied for his bail in the most liberal terms.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N25,000 with one surety in like sum.
He said the surety must provide means of identification and tax clearance certificates for two years.
Aluko adjourned the case until July 10, for hearing.
