As residents in the South-East zone of the country observed the Monday sit-at-home order despite repeated declarations by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leadership that the order has been suspended, enforcers, on Monday, set ablaze a tricycle at Amaechi Road Junction, Agbani Road, Enugu.

The fear of violent attacks kept people at home.
Roads were deserted and public places closed. Some artisans worked on Sunday as a makeup for the Monday sit-at-home.

Recall that last Monday, a vehicle conveying tomatoes, okro and vegetable to Enugu was set ablaze in Edem-Nike, Enugu.
Most people condemned the destruction and killings in the zone, urging IPOB to seek a better approach in pursuit of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
Meanwhile, in a bid to curb insecurity in the country, the Nigerian Army has commenced three exercises nationwide.
The exercises are code-named Golden Dawn, Enduring Peace and Still Water, all aimed at neutralising criminals in the country.

A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General, Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, would flag -off all the exercises in Enugu State.

He added that the operations were designed to effectively check all forms of criminality and allow for free movement of persons during the Yuletide.

Onyema urged residents not to panic sighting movement of troops and equipment.

The statement was titled, “COAS flags-off Exercises Golden Dawn, Enduring Peace and Still Water nationwide”.
