Kano Pillars’ striker, Gambo Mohammed, will be ruled out for at least eight weeks due to a fractured arm from a bullet shot while the pair of Adamu Murtala and Otekpa Eneji could be back to full fitness in the space of two weeks after Thursday’s robbery attack, an official disclosed.
The home-based Super Eagles star was re-admitted alongside three players that suffered serious degrees of injuries from gun shots at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital following the team’s return to Kano on Friday.
The pair of Reuben Ogbonnaya and Ekpai Moses were released to continue their recuperation at home after check up by medical officials.
Team doctor, Idris Ibn Garba, confirmed the injured players are in ‘stable health’ while hinting that Mohammed will be requiring treatment abroad to hasten his recovery.
“Three players have been admitted at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. Their state of health is stable. There are plans to prepare their surgery by Saturday. They have to stabilise the patients and get their blood samples and others,” Garba said.
“Only Adamu, Otekpa, Gambo are on admission. Most of the players have fracture in their arms with those small bones in their hinge – body has to be removed, but that of Gambo is more serious fracture.
“He (Gambo) has a fractured haemorrhage – his bone is fractured, they will have to put extra metals. By the time they do the bone setting, it may take up to 8-12 weeks.
“We are thinking of flying him abroad. I spoke with the commissioner and general manager and they are ready when the deputy governor is back from his trip abroad.
“For Adamu and Otekpa – they will be back in the next week – within 10 days – they will be fully fit and alright,” he concluded.
