Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, put up a good display against Serie A league leaders, Napoli, leaving the home fans stunned in the end.
The Nigerian forward scored a brace within the first 30 minutes, propelling Atalanta to a commanding 3-0 victory that disrupted Napoli’s impressive home run.
Lookman’s performance not only showed his remarkable talent but also highlighted why he remains one of the best stars in the Serie A.
Atalanta entered the match with the intention of challenging Napoli’s dominance.
The hosts had been unbeaten in their last ten games and had established a formidable defensive record, conceding only five goals in their opening ten fixtures.
However, it was Lookman who quickly changed the narrative, crashing a volley into the bottom corner to open the scoring.
Following this, he added a second goal, curling the ball past the Napoli goalkeeper in a display of finesse and precision before Mateo Retegui wrapped up things in stoppage time.
The victory marked a significant moment for Atalanta, moving them just three points behind Napoli in the league standings.
Lookman’s contributions this season have been nothing short of extraordinary, with ten goal involvements in only eight appearances, including six goals and four assists.
His performance against Napoli continues to make him one of the league’s most dangerous forwards.
While Napoli struggled to find their rhythm, Atalanta maintained control throughout the match with their massive attacking prowess.
With Ademola Lookman leading the charge, Atalanta’s confidence surged, culminating in a decisive win that has serious implications for the Serie A title race.
As Napoli prepares for their next challenge against Inter Milan, questions linger about how they will respond to this unexpected defeat.
