The saying that a prophet is not respected or regarded or accepted in his hometown is an old adage that is always at play in the lives of people with sincere intentions.
Notwithstanding the negative impressions being sold to people about Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as a result of his stand and love for a one united Nigeria, by an insignificant number of people from his tribe, the former governor’s good intentions towards his people is still unrelenting and magnanimous as ever.
It is no false news that the love he is getting from his people greatly outnumbers the hate. Despite various plans to stop him from becoming a senator and negative propagandas to sway the minds of voters from voting for him, his people vehemently refused to abandon him; they supported him to clinch the Ania North senatorial seat. He was massively voted for by his people and he won.
Inasmuch as Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is a rare commodity that is affordable by people with class and eyes for quality, he is also affordable by all: because just as the water has no enemy, he equally has no enemy (mmiri ewe iro), he flows freely to the nooks and crannies of the good and the bad to quench their thirsts. He is a bridge builder. His antecedents in the past and at present have demonstrated that.
The OUK Patriotic Confederates is joining forces with Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and other patriotic Nigerians in building a new Nigeria that will promote true peace and true unity.
He has shown to all that his primary interest is Nigeria first before other interests.
During the IPOB saga, he was the first to make a move to broker peace between the federal government and the secessionist group threatening the peace and existence of this country.
He went as far as visiting the secessionist group leader in Kuje prison; a movement that no Igbo political leaders, both past and present as at then deemed fit to carry on.
Despite insurmountable insults hauled at him by the followers of the secessionist group leader after his visit, he never relented in having several other closed door meetings with the federal government to effect the release of the secessionist leader – a move that later yielded fruit.
He was among the insignificant number of Igbo leaders (if not the only Igbo leader) that openly condemned the activities of the group without minding the negative consequences his actions may attract on his business and political ambition.
He was and is still seen as an efulefu (a wayward son) by the members of the secessionist group and their apologists as a result of his stand and love for one Nigeria.
Nigerians are aware that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is a gospel merchant of “One Nigeria” and a true nationalist that has built bridges across the country by investing businesses worth billions of naira across various states in the southern and northern part of this country. A man who does not believe in one Nigeria will never thread such path.
Billionaires from different parts of the country have also emerged through him.
Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu is truly an emerging bellwether of a new Nigeria by his constant defense move to foster peace in the country and his sincere submissions towards national issues. He does not entertain an atom of obscured tribal view on the nation’s polity, neither does he allow his personal views to adversely affect his views and influence biased disposition towards issues affecting our nation.
As the present senator representing the good people of Abia North senatorial district, he sees all Nigerians as his constituency and faithfully believes in the unity in our diversity.
We pray God to continue to guide him and all of us in the OUK Patriotic Confederates in good health of mind and body to enable us build together a peaceful, prosperous, greater and a more united Nigeria.
