Senate refuses to screen Obanikoro as opposition mounts

More troubles came the way of embattled Senator Musiliu Obanikoro on Wednesday as the Senate refused to screen him for ministerial position.
Freedom Online learned that some friends and family members were already in Abuja, waiting to jubilate, when they were told that the screening had been postponed.
One of the senators told Freedom Online: “He (Obanikoro) has a bad case. You know as one of us (a former Senator), we would have told him to bow and go. But we received several petitions from Lagos State against Obanikoro. Another petition came last week on the Ekiti rigging tape. We have our integrity to protect. That is why we postponed everything. I don’t even know when we are going to screen him”.
Obanikoro, a former Minister of State, Defence, resigned in October last year to contest the governorship seat in Lagos State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Jimi Agbaje.
