Senate passes revised 2020 Budget of N10.8trn

Senate

A coalition of youth groups in Abia State under the aegis of Abia Youth Coalition Movement (AYCM) has galvanized grassroots support for the senatorial bid of former Abia State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Abia North, Dr. Orji Kalu.
According to the coordinator of the coalition, Mazi Tony Anyim, the people of Abia North are tired of poor representation.
While condemning the distribution of frying pans and buckets to constituents, the group cautioned politicians against taking the people for granted, stressing that only Kalu can bring back the lost glory of the region.
Anyim made these remarks in a town hall meeting in Arochukwu on Sunday.
He urged politicians to live up to expectations, adding that the era of rigging, intimidation and vote-buying was over in the state.
Anyim said ” the people of Abia North are now wise.
” We have resolved not to again condone any individual who does not have what it takes to represent us in the red chamber.
“Only Kalu, has shown the political sagacity, intellectual capacity and undoubted network of contacts to give us good representation.
” The National Assembly is not a bedroom for sleeping rather a place to advance the cause of the people.
“It is only those who have the people’s interests at heart that should be in the red chamber.
” We have no option than to support Kalu, who we sincerely believe will do a great job, if elected.
“Time will tell as we reaffirm our unshakable and unapologetic support for the former governor.
While urging the electorate to resist any attempt to shortchange their votes, the group called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure credible general elections in 2019.
