Leader of the Senate, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele has expressed sadness over the passing away of Oba Adégòkè Olú Adéyemi, the Alárá of Aramoko-Ekiti, who died last week, at the age of 82.

Bamidele, in a statement issued by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, condoled with the people of Aramoko-Ekiti and Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti over the royal father’s death.

The Ekiti Central Senator, who has Aramoko-Ekiti as one of the towns under his jurisdiction, described him as astute public servant, who he said, tirelessly pushed for the development of his community before joining his ancestors.

He recalled that the late Oba Adegoke, as the former Chancellor of the State-owned Ekiti State University (EKSU), would be remembered for his numerous contributions to the development of the institution.

Bamidele said his reign brought rapid and positive transformation to Aramoko-Ekiti.

The statement reads in part, “I am shocked by the passing of our royal father, Oba Adégòkè Olú Adéyemi, the Alárá of Aramoko-Ekiti Kingdom, whose reign, as Alárá of Aramoko-Ekiti Kingdom, witnessed significant development in his community.

“It is on record that during his reign, Oba Adegoke worked with previous state governments and most recently, the Gov. Biodun Oyebanji-led administration, to promote peace among his subjects and ensured harmony in the culturally rich Aramoko-Ekiti community.

“His tenure, as the Chancellor of the Ekiti State University also laid a solid foundation for the development of the institution, leading to its recognition, as one of the best state universities in the country.

“I, therefore, condole with the governor, the Alárá in Council and the entire people of Aramoko- Ekiti community”, he stated.

Bamidele prayed for the repose of the soul of the traditional ruler, urging his immediate family, the community and government and people of Ekiti to be consoled in the legacy of good name which he left behind.
