Weeks after the abduction of students in Niger and Zamfara states and their subsequent release, gunmen, in the early hours of Friday, struck in Kaduna State, abducting scores of female students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Mando in Igabi Local Government Area of the North-West state.
The latest abduction is coming barely 48 hours after the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, presented the 2020 security situation reports to Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Freedom Online learned that male students of the school were not taken away.
Aruwan confirmed the incident, saying “investigation is ongoing”.
Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, also confirmed the attack.
An eyewitness said that “half of the female students were taken but not a single male was abducted”.
