Scores of people were feared killed and houses burnt as terrorists, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, on Saturday, attacked Babbangida community in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident in Damaturu.
He said the incident occurred around 4 pm, adding that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his men had made a strategic withdrawal from the area.
Abdulkarim said details of the casualties of the attack were sketchy as the DPO had not updated him on development.
But, a resident, who fled the scene, confirmed the number of casualties to reporters.
The terrorists had attacked the same community in October 2019, torching a section of the palace of the Emir of Jajere.
