Scores injured, 15 vehicles destroyed as PDP, APC supporters clash in Kano

The Police Command in Kano State says normalcy has returned to Kofa Village in Bebeji Local Government Area of the North-West state, following a clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the village on Thursday.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, who commented on the incident, said security personnel had been deployed to the area and that the situation had since been brought under control
Haruna, however, said the command had yet to get details of the clash.

Scores of people were injured during the incident which occurred around 2 p.m.
According to the witness, the incident occurred when Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso was passing through the village en route Bebeji town.
It was gathered that trouble started when the PDP supporters who were travelling in their campaign vehicles met some APC supporters that organised prayer session for peaceful election in the village.
It was also gathered that no fewer than 15 vehicles belonging to the PDP were destroyed during the fracas.
The quick intervention of security personnel drafted to the area saved the situation from degenerating into a serious political crisis.
