The Lagos State Government praised members of the community and described them as ‘development conscious’ group of people. The Government showered praises upon the community with an award of N500,000:00.

The occasion was accentuated by speeches and lecture.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Association, Emeritus Professor Peter Olufemi Adeniyi, traced the origin of the Association to 2017 as well as developments in the year that was associated with heavy downpour.

Adeniyi recalled that the heavy downpour of the year damaged many roads in the community following which requests and appeals were made on government without positive response.

“The community then felt since government had failed to positively respond to series of our requests to fix the roads, we decided to begin to tackle the problem by ourselves starting from Pa Alao Ojo street”.

Adeniyi stated that the road was financed by levy and donations.

He reiterated the commitment of SCODA to fixing all roads in the community and that they would not stop until every street in the community has been taken care of.

Adeniyi further pledged the support of SCODA to youth efforts at providing security light in strategic places in the community.

The Chairman similarly hinted of plans to regulate Okada riders in the community as part of efforts to curb insecurity in the community.

He said plans are under way in the new year to set up a fund raising committee for scholarship award for students in secondary schools to tertiary institutions.

Ayodele, who spoke on the importance of health with emphasis on infertility, enlightened the community on what people should observe to enjoy good health.
