Save our souls, motorists appeal to FERMA

Unless the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) urgently embarks on the rehabilitation of Awe/Iwo road, lives of motorists and commuters plying it are in great danger.
For motorists and commuters plying the federal road, it is an endless tales and trauma. The hard times they are compelled to face is as a result of deep and deadly potholes that dot the road like landmines.
For years, the impassable nature of the disintegrating road has
inflicted both physical and emotional torture on motorists.
The situation worsens by the day with more deadly potholes emerging, aided by the rains and failed drainage.
Avoiding them is quite risky, as drivers unfamiliar with the death traps drive at breakneck speed.
The result can better be imagined.
This bumper to bumper ride results in unending neck breaking traffic jams, as many lives have been lost, while others inflicted with permanent disability, due to these potholes.
It was learned that contract for the rehabilitation of
the road was awarded between 2001 and 2002 during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.
But rather than embarking on the multi-million naira project as specified, mere patching-up of potholes were carried out by the contractors that handled the road.
However, some of the motorists trapped in the gridlock experienced daily, have appealed to FERMA to come to their aid, by carrying out a thorough rehabilitation of the road, in order to prevent further carnage.
