The Salami Dynasty, comprising the children of the late Mudasiru Salami, will on Saturday, June 20, hold a 40-day Fidau prayer in honour of their late brother, Shamusideen Salami, who passed away on May 10 in Badagry, Lagos State, after a brief illness.

The prayer session is scheduled to take place at Shilloh Hall in Agege, Lagos, and is expected to attract prominent Islamic clerics, family members, friends and well-wishers.

An eight-day Fidau prayer was earlier held on May 17 in the Mowo area of Badagry, Lagos State.

However, the family decided to organise the 40-day remembrance in Agege, where the late Shamusideen and his younger siblings spent much of their early lives.

Speaking on Thursday, the eldest child of the family, Pastor Mrs. Mutiat Ali, said all arrangements for the event had been concluded.

She added that the family would also use the occasion to offer prayers for their late father, whose posthumous anniversary falls just three days after the remembrance for Shamusideen.

“We are also going to remember our late father in prayers since his posthumous anniversary is just three days after our brother’s event,” she said.

The Family Secretary, Adeniyi Salami, has reportedly been working tirelessly to ensure the success of the programme, while another member of the dynasty based overseas, Azeez Salami, has also made significant contributions toward the event’s planning.

The Head of the Family, Mr. Adekunle Salami, said it was important for the family to honour their departed brother, describing him as a man who lived a worthy life and maintained a strong bond with all members of the family.

“It came as a shock to us that he left us so soon, but we thank God for the life he lived. That is why we have chosen to honour his memory even in death,” he said.

The family also disclosed that guests will be entertained with a reception at the same venue immediately after the prayer session.
