chibuke_rotimi_amaechiAs the political crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State persists, more groups have continued to shower support for Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The latest came from the people of Orashi region comprising Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni and Abua-Odual Local Government Areas.

Former Governor Peter Odili is from this region.

Leader of the group and Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Senator Wilson Ake, said they were in Government House to tell the governor, who was reelected as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and the country that the votes they gave him in 2011 for his re-election as governor were not in error.

“The people of Orashi region came to hear from their son (Amaechi), especially on issues concerning the state, which they have been hearing in the media, and wish to use this opportunity to show their solidarity. They also came to tell you that, all those sending messages in their name to higher quarters are not working on their behalf, and Rivers people but for their personal interest,” Ake said.

Ake also said Amaechi was been haunted by politicians because of his fight against social injustice, expressing assurance that, no opposition group against Amaechi’s government or centrifugal forces can pull him down.

“Our sons and daughters are beneficiaries of your human capital development. Governor Amaechi’s people-oriented projects in the Orashi region can not be compared to any past administration in the state. The workers of iniquity will not see you. The people of Orashi region and Rivers people will see the last day of the expiration of your tenure. Amaechi, please count on our support at all times.

“Our towns and villages are riddled with multiplicity of your high impact development projects, spanning from Kubor in Abua/Odual Local Government through all the nooks and crannies of Orashi region down to Ndoni, at the Northern tip of the region. We are here as a people united to salute your courage, which often times is misunderstood by your detractors. Vision, forthrightness and indeed your unparallel accomplishments in governance, which are worthy of emulation”.

On his part, Amaechi said it was most despicable that the state is losing oil wells to neigbouring states, and as governor, he is obliged to resist and defend the territorial integrity of the state.

“Orashi is one of the producers of oil in Nigeria, and we have asked the Federal Government to carry out development in those areas. That is our argument, and nothing else, I have no quarrel against anybody. We just have to defend our rights and our land,” Amaechi said.

The governor also stated his administration’s commitment to reconstruct all internal roads in Omoku. He told the people of Orashi that he is negotiationg with a company to set up 10,000 hectares of rice farm in the Orashi region that could create job opportunities for over 3,000 workers.

Amaechi also said that “I am doing a bridge from Abua to Agba Ndele, the contract have been awarded”.
