From Bode Durojaiye, Oyo.

The Oyo-East Local Government has embarked on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads in seven communities in the area.
The benefitting communities include Agodongbo, Araromi, Mabolaje, Akunlemu, Adesina, Baago and Kosobo.
Roads under rehabilitation are Akunlemu/Adesina/Baago and Akindele Street at Kosobo, totalling 2.5 kilometres.
While those under construction with asphaltic tarring and hydraulic structures include Agodongbo/Araromi link, Boye Street, Mabolaje and Moshood Adeleke Streets at Mabolaje, totaling about two kilometres.
Joy knew no bounds for the beneficial residents who trooped out with songs of praise for both the council chairman and Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Lamenting the once undulating terrains of the roads, they described as “death traps’’, the elated residents said they would, forever, be grateful to the governor for saving their souls from perennial accidents on the roads.
Two of the residents at Agodongbo, Mrs Titilola Abeni and Alhaji Ajiloye Olaomo, who burst into tears of joy, told journalists that until recently, a lot of accidents, some of which were fatal, had been recorded.
Similarly, two other residents at Akunlemu and Adesina communities, Yemi Olawale and Kike Ola-Oluwa, said they would, forever, be grateful to the governor for not only fulfilling his electioneering promises, but commended the council caretaker chairman for his sincerity of purpose in executing the road project to specifications.
Conducting reporters round the projects, caretaker chairman of the local government, Alhaji Mutahir Adekunle Adegboye, accompanied by the Director of Works, Engineer Sola Adeola, said the gesture was in fulfilment of Ajimobi’s election campaigns in 2011.
Adegboye pointed out the economic importance of the roads, citing instance of that of Agodongbo which he said was a major access to Ibadan and Ogbomoso.
Adeola said the project gulped a sum of N160 million.
