A litre of petrol was sold for N175 on Friday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
In other parts of the North-Central state, unconfirmed reports revealed that residents bought it for N200.
Majority of the residents, who had wanted to seize the opportunity of the May Day holiday to buy the product, went home disappointed as many filling stations shut their gates due to non-availability of the product.
Others, who were selling, had their stations blocked by human and vehicular traffic.
The scarcity led to transport hike.
Due to this, some commuters resorted to trekking.
