Rhodes-Vivour’s characterisation of Badenoch as “the Black face of White Supremacy” diverts attention from the pressing needs facing Lagos. As a British official, Badenoch’s focus on British interests is entirely consistent with her role. These responsibilities do not influence Lagos or its priorities, and drawing such parallels distracts from the issues closer to home.
While Rhodes-Vivour raises questions about reparations and historical injustices, real progress for Lagos and Nigeria lies in addressing local concerns.
For Lagos to advance, it requires leadership that is fully committed to the city’s development and not sidetracked by foreign debates. “True progress for Lagos requires leadership that prioritizes Lagosians, not the issues or interests of other nations.”
