University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has introduced computer test platform for its medical students. The College says it has reached advanced stage of establishing a computer learning and test platform for its medical students.

This was made known by the Provost of the college, Prof. Uchenna Nwagha on Monday, in Enugu while briefing newsmen on their forthcoming First Distinguished Alumni Lecture.

He said that establishment of the test platform was part of the reforms aimed at improving the competence of its graduates in view of obvious learning gaps in the medical field in the country.

He said that the new learning procedure would be known as ‘K-smart Edge Computer Test Platform’.

According to him, the procedure would deploy a 3D imaging that would integrate intuitive coloured graphics and animations for medical pictures and procedures for teaching and evaluation of medical students.

“We decided to focus on this as well as establish a functional research management office in order to boost the college and restore the dignity of man,” he said.

The provost noted that the college was the first in the country to introduce such teaching methodology which he explained, would reduce, significantly, the number of failures in medical examinations.

Nwagbara added that the college was desirous of providing the enabling teaching environment for its students to excel, adding that such learning aid would make the students competitive.

He said that the institution would need much funds to drive the new learning system.

On the alumni lecture, the provost said that the college would use the opportunity to recognise its members that had distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavour.
.
He said that those to be honoured with good governance awards are Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige, former governors of Enugu State and Rivers, Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani and Dr Peter Odili, respectively.

Others are a former governor of the Old Enugu State, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, a board member, Police Service Commission, Dr. Nkemka Jombo-Ofo, and a posthumous award to former minister of information, Dr. Dora Akunyilu.

The rest are a United States of America based Forensic Pathologist, Prof. Bennett Omalu, a lecturer at University of Massachusetts Medical School, Prof. Benjamin Nwosu among others.

The provost said that they were proud to have graduates from the college who had contributed to the sociopolitical advancement of the country, adding that a medical doctor in politics is unique
