The Police in Kwara on Thursday warned members of the public to beware of online fraudsters who may take advantage of presidential directive to recruit 10,000 police officers to defraud them.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ajayi Okasanmi, in Ilorin.
The PPRO said the recruitment of 10,000 police officers had not commenced as modalities for the recruitment were being worked out.
“The public are hereby warned to beware of online fraudsters who may take advantage of the recruitment information to defraud them of their hard earned money.
“Please disregard any invitation for screening exercise at any stadium, schools and other open spaces as such invitations are spurious.
“The command will adequately advertise on all media platforms when the recruitment commences,” Okasanmi said in the statement.
Also, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged Nigerians, especially, job seekers, to disregard job offers through any third party into the commission.
This contained in a statement by Mr Imoh Etuk, Corps Public Education Officer, on behalf of the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, on Thursday in Abuja.
The statement said that the attention of the commission had been drawn to the activities of scammers who extort money from desperate job seekers with the claim they could facilitate their employment into the FRSC.
“The FRSC management wishes to discountenance itself from the criminal act and advise the public, especially, job seekers to disregard such unauthorised and mischievous antics.
“The commission is not presently embarking on any recruitment.
“The FRSC in cooperation with security agencies are on the trail of these criminal elements.
“The public are hereby warned not to be fooled by the fraudsters,” the statement said.
The statement said the FRSC adopts open processes in conducting its recruitment and publishes same through credible platforms.
“The platforms include national newspapers, television and Radio stations, FRSC web site, official Facebook and twitter.
“ When the Commission is recruiting, information on such is made available through the following official platforms www.frsc.gov.ng, www.fb.com/federalroadsafetycorps, or @FRSCNigeria on Twitter.
“ The FRSC can also be reached through a toll free line 122 or 070022553772, 08077690055 and 08077690397 for any confirmation or clarification on recruitment and related matters,” it said.
The statement called on Nigerians to note that Oyeyemi was not on Facebook, saying that fraudsters were using several fake facebook accounts with his identification to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians.
