From Bode Durojaiye.

Heavy rainstorm, on Monday evening, destroyed
properties worth millions of naira in Oyo metropolis.
Mostly affected areas include Boroboro, Isokun, Sabo, Akesan, Obananko, Owode, Agunpopo, Alliance, Oke-ebo, Sakutu ogbegbe, Ajegunle, Oroki, Isale-Oyo, Opapa, Jobele, Ilora, Fiditi, Iware, Awe and Akinmorin.
The heavy storm, which started around 5 pm, lasted about 30 minutes and, thereafter, followed with a heavy downpour, first of its kind in the year, which lasted for about two hours.
Properties destroyed include electric poles, roofing sheets,
billboards and television antennas.
No life was lost.
Some of the residents affected by the incident, who were seen counting their losses, called on both the state and the four local governments in the area to come to their rescue.
Meanwhile, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi,
accompanied by his son and All Progressives Congress candidate for the House of Representatives in Oyo Federal Constituency, Prince Adeniyi, on Tuesday, went round the affected areas and sympathised with the affected residents.
Oba Adeyemi, who thanked God that nobody died while the storm lasted, assured the affected residents that their plight would be tabled before appropriate authorities for necessary actions.
