Profit taking: NSE market indices slump by 0.34%

NSE indices drop further by 0.15%, as Forte Oil tops activity chart

Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened for the week on Monday on a negative trend with the market indices depreciating by 0.34 per cent.
The market capitalisation shed N29 billion or 0.34 per cent to close at N8.518 trillion compared with N8.547 trillion achieved on Friday.
Similarly, the All-Share Index, which opened at 24,850.11, lost 85.01 points or 0.34 per cent to close at 24,765.10 due price loses.
Market analysts attributed market instability to challenges in foreign exchange market, 2016 budget impasse and lack of economic blueprint.
Forte Oil led the losers’ chart, dropping by N25.12 to close at N250 per share.
Guinness trailed with a loss of N1 to close at N97, while Flour Mills Nigeria shed 20k to close at N20 per share.

Unilever lost 19k to close at N3.68 and Port Land Paint declined by 13k to close at N2.49 per share.

On the other hand, 7UP topped the gainers’ table, growing by N2.41 to close at N145 per share.

Union Dicon Salt followed with a gain of 55k to close at N11.80, while Nigerian Breweries appreciated by 39k to close at N106.09 per share.

CCNN increased by 35k to close at N7.45 and Okomu Oil Palm gained 20k to close at N29.20 per share.

Access Bank emerged investors delight, accounting for 55.64 million shares worth N216.79 million.

Guaranty Trust Bank came second with a turnover of 11.09 million shares valued at N177.65 million, while Skye Bank traded 10.28 million shares worth N9.92 million.

FBN Holdings sold 7.99 million shares worth N26.55 million and NEM exchanged 7.39 million shares valued at N5.910 million.

In all, investors bought and sold 144.68 million shares worth N766.02 million exchanged in 2,729 deals.

This was in contrast with 188.72 million shares valued at N1.51 billion exchanged in 3,050 deals on Friday.
