The presidency, on Monday night, succumbed to pressure by recalling The Punch correspondent, Olalekan Adetayo.
Adetayo was earlier in the day de-accredited and expelled from The Villa by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Hours later, the Director-General (D-G) of the Department of State Services (DSS), Malam Lawal Daura, recalled Adetayo.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, addressed to the Chairman, Villa Chapel, reads:
“We just got a clearance from Malam Lawal Daura, the D-G SSS to recall Lekan to the Villa. Please come along with him tomorrow. The Special Adviser on Media, Femi Adesina, and I will resolve the issues.
“Please advise the Correspondents and the rest of your members to handle this with maturity. It will not help anyone to start daring the security. Lekan should be assured that he is safe. We will straighten out everything”.
