abdulfatah_ahmedGov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara on Sunday advised the new local government chairmen in the state, to practise politics of inclusion in their respective council areas.

He gave the advise on Sunday while speaking with newsmen on the outcome of Saturday’s local government elections in 15 local government areas of the state.

Ahmed urged the winners to see their victory as part of nation building and therefore, be magnanimous in victory so as to collectively move the state forward.

“We are running a true democracy in the state and in an ideal democratic setting, people are free to do things the way they want it.

“The lack of opposition here in Kwara, is a reflection of people’s trust and confidence in our government, ” the governor said.

Ahmed challenged the chairmen, to do all within their powers to add value to local government administration, using their wealth of experience.

He said that the new chairmen must ensure that people at the grassroots level, felt the impact of dividends of democracy, to justify the confidence reposed in them (chairmen) by the electorate.

The governor thanked God for the peaceful conduct of the polls across the state, calling on the electorate to sustain the positive attitude displayed during the election.
