Postponed LASU students’ union election to hold January 2016

The Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) on Friday said the 2015 election of the union which was recently postponed might hold in January, 2016.
The union’s President, Mr Adeyemi Onikoro, said in Lagos that the union was awaiting substantive judgment before the students’ judicial ‎council to proceed with the election
“Examination has started and the students’ court has yet to reach a resolution on the issue ‎that led to the postponement of the election.
“The implication is that the election would no longer hold ‎this year, but until next semester which is January 2016”.
Onikoro said processes toward the conduct of the election would begin as soon‎ as the students’ courts gives its final verdict on the contending issues.
The LASUSU 2015 election scheduled to hold on November 26, was postponed due to a tussle between the executive, judiciary, parliamentary, electoral committee, contestants, and members of the Congress.
Prof. Kabir Akinyemi, Dean, Students Affairs Unit, LASU, had said that the ‎parties levied several accusations on one another such as breach and misinterpretation of the union’s constitution.
After due consultation and consideration, the election of the parliament was held, while others were postponed till further notice.
