A popular columnist with Vanguard newspaper, Donu Kogbara, has been kidnapped in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
She was kidnapped in the early hours of Sunday.
Freedom Online learned that a four-man gang stormed her residence, gained entry forcefully and went straight to her bedroom.
Said a source: “It looks like an inside job. They knew their target and where she was at that particular period. They went straight to her bedroom, dragged her out, bundled her inside their car and zoomed off. It was like a movie”.
Kogbara, a graduate of University of Leicester, also speaks French fluently.
A writer/broadcaster who has a weekly column in Vanguard, she occasionally does TV/radio commentaries and has worked in London for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Channel 4, Sunday Times, Daily Mail, Economist Intelligence Unit and other well-known UK media organisations.
A former Special Assistant To Minister of Transport, she is also a consultant who has worked with various government bodies and the private sector.
She is a Board Member of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority established by former Rivers State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to create a new city in the capital.
She also served as a member of the Presidential Oil/Gas Sector Reform Implementation Committee for 10 years.
As at the time of filing this report, no member of the family has been contacted by the kidnappers.
