Popular Yoruba comedian and actor, Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji (Sisi Quadri), is dead.
Quadri, one of the stars in Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre’, died on March 1, the day the movie was released.
His death has sent a shock wave to the make-believe sector of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The National President, Theatre Arts And Motion Pictures Practitioners Association Of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan (Mr Latin), confirmed the death in an Instagram post on Friday.
Amusan, with a display of the deceased’s picture wrote: “Hmmmmmm! May God grant him eternal rest.”
Sisi Quadri dominated the online comedy skit and the Yoruba movie industry.
His major breakthrough in the movie industry was when he played the role of an insultive personality in the Yoruba epic movie, “Seniyan Seranko”.
Late Sisi Quadri captivated his audience with his outspoken personality and ability to rain insults on his opponents in movies without pausing.
Quadri’s last Instagram post was on January 14 in which he posted a throwback scene from a movie he featured in 25 years ago.
He celebrated his last birthday on December 26, 2023.
His colleague, Biola Bayo, also announced Quadri’s passing in an Instagram post on Friday.

She wrote: “You will be greatly missed, Sisi Quadri. May your soul rest in perfect peace. May God comfort all your loved ones”.
Another actor, Tunde Ola-Yusuff, confirmed the demise on his Instagram account.
He wrote: “Everything in the world is according to the will of Allah. From Allah we have come, and unto him we shall all return – May God rest your soul Bro @iamsisiquadir”.
Amid tears, friends and colleagues of the movie star have started mourning him on social media.
Odunlade Adekola shared his photo on Instagram writing, “This is so sad. RIP Sisi Quadri.”
Madam Saje, who could not hold back her tears, shared the image of a burning candle with the caption: “Huuuuuu ile Aiye ile Asan”.
Femi Adebayo also mourned him on Instagram, writing, “It’s a sad day when good people get taken away from us by the cold hands of death! My prayers and condolences remain with your family and loved ones @iamsisiquadir
May Allah grant you Jannah!”
Dayo Amusa shared Quadri’s photo with the caption: “This is so sad a news. May Allah forgive you your shortcomings and grant you peace Sisi Quadri…. Till we meet and part no more Eleyii dun mi o”.
Others like Yinka Quadri, Mr Latin, Mide Martins, Muyiwa Ademola and Saidi Balogun also mourned the deceased on their Instagram accounts.
