The head Pastor of Divine Favour Prayer Assembly Ministries, Mowe, Ogun State, Dr.Tayo Popoola, has proposed a major agenda that should drive the 2023 General Elections in Nigeria.
Ministering last Sunday on the occasion of the fourth anniversary thanksgiving service of Omu-Ajibode branch of the church titled: Divine Rescue – Gen 11:43, Popoola said it’s time for men and women of substance across to the land to cry out over the outrageous salaries and allowances of all the political office holders in the country saying ” The current economic reality in the country cannot support it”.
The cleric, who is a veteran journalist and former editor of several Nigerian newspapers and magazines, stressed that during Nigeria’s Second Republic governor of Lagos State , late Alhaji Lateef Jakande demonstrated rare leadership qualities and selflessness by not living in Government house nor used Government official
vehicles.
The man of God was of the view that Nigeria must be rescued through the 2023 General Elections by proposing that we search for those leaders who are ready to make sacrifices that would lead to quick economic recovery and not leaders that would impoverise Nigerians.
The cleric tasked his colleagues who are currently organising media debates for political aspirants to set an agenda for national discourse in this direction.
The Royal Patron of the church, HRM Oba Femi Ogunleye, Towulade Akinale, Owu, Abeokuta congratulated the church on the successful anniversary and prayed for a peaceful General Elections in 2023.
The BOT Chairman of the church, Chief (Dr.) Kenny Martins, similarly congratulated the entire members of the church for their strong commitment which has led to the growth and development of the branch in the last four years.
Chief Martins was represented by Chief Jonny Ucheaga at the thanksgiving service.
It would be recalled that the parish was opened in 2019 by Chief Kenny Martins.
Dignitaries from all walks of life attended the thanksgiving service.
