The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has suspended the nationwide enforcement of its tinted-glass permit policy, which was scheduled to resume on January 2, 2026.
The move follows an interim court order restraining the Force from implementing the policy until a pending suit is heard.
In a statement on January 1, 2026, Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the NPF is fully complying with a court order.
Hundeyin said the Force entered an appearance in court, raised preliminary objections, and applied to vacate the interim injunction.
The Delta State High Court in Orerokpe issued the order on December 17, 2025, in Suit No. HOR/FHR/M/31/2025, a fundamental rights enforcement case filed by activist, Israel Joe.
The injunction prevents the police from enforcing the tinted-glass regulations until the court delivers a substantive judgement or vacates the order.
The matter has been adjourned to January 20, 2026.
The tinted-glass permit policy, introduced for security purposes, requires vehicle owners with tinted windows to obtain annual permits.
