The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into allegations that a medical practitioner concealed one of a pair of newborn twins following delivery at a hospital in the state.
The development was confirmed by the police in a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where authorities acknowledged awareness of a viral video linked to the incident.
According to the command, the case is being treated seriously, with collaboration underway between law enforcement agencies and relevant medical regulatory bodies to establish the facts.
Police authorities disclosed that the Area Commander of Area M is directly supervising the investigation, assuring the public that findings will be made available once inquiries are concluded.
The investigation follows a widely circulated video posted online, which captured a woman confronting hospital staff while holding a newborn and demanding to know the whereabouts of her second baby.
In the footage, the woman insisted that multiple prenatal scans had confirmed she was carrying twins, but only one child was presented to her after delivery.
Visibly distressed, she accused the hospital of wrongdoing, raising concerns about possible baby theft or trafficking.
The incident reportedly occurred at a medical facility located in the Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos.
