The Osun State Police Command on Monday said it intercepted and detained a vehicle loaded with suspected stolen 14 goats in Ede, Ede South Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Folasade Odoro, confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Osogbo on Monday.
The driver of the car, however, escaped arrest.
It was gathered that a police team sighted the vehicle with registration number Ondo XF 467 NND at Sekona junction in Ede, around 1a.m. on Monday.
Police spokesperson said the driver defied the police stoppage order and veered off.
She said that the police team led by Inspector Ajayi Sunday, chased the driver from Sekona junction to Cemetery Area in Edun-Abon where the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped before the police could reach the place.
The police team then drove the vehicle along the goats to the station.
The PPRO said the goats would remain in police custody until the owner showed up, adding that police had commenced investigation into the matter.
