The Police command in Gombe State on Tuesday confirmed the death of a 15-year-old girl, Aisha, in Kwami community, after she was sent on an errand.

The confirmation followed a viral video showing the girl’s body found in a hole near Wakili and Tuguji villages in Kwami Local Government Area.

Police spokesman, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said in a statement that Aisha was sent to buy soybeans on Monday evening but never returned home.

“The report was made by her father, Malam Abubakar, around 12 noon on Tuesday,” Abdullahi told journalists in Gombe.

“According to the report, she was sent to buy soya beans at about 5:40 p.m. on Monday and did not return.

“Unfortunately, her lifeless body was discovered in a bush on the outskirts of the village today,” Abdullahi added.

He said detectives visited and photographed the scene, noting visible signs of violence and mutilation on parts of the body.

Abdullahi said the corpse was evacuated to hospital for medical examination.

He added that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible.
