The defendant, however,  pleaded not guilty to the crime.

The prosecutor, Insp Olusegun Kokoye, had told the court that the defendant unlawfully assaulted supernumerary police constable Abdulkareem Abdulahi while performing his lawful duty.

Kokoye said that the defendant assaulted Abdulahi and caused him bodily harm in contravention of Sections 174(B) and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Obasa adjourned the matter until Sept. 27 for mention.
