Players’ quotes at the T/Tennis Classics

tabletennisOjo Onaolapo of Nigeria:

“I am in Lagos to win the competition and I know it is going to be a very tall order for me because all the players are in top form. The standard of the tournament is the same with other tournaments outside Nigeria and I believe all the players that are in the competition are eager to cause upsets and I am also ready to be part of history.

There is no doubt that the presence of African number one player, Egypt’s Omar Assar has indeed added glamour to the tournament and everybody is eager to watch him. The fans also have made the championship exciting because this is first tournament I am seeing a full capacity crowd cheering the players throughout the matches.”

Kayode Adedeji of Nigeria:

“I really prepared for this competition and I am on fire to excel in the tournament. There is no doubt that the standard is high and every player is keen to do well. I won all my matches in the group and I am ready to confront any player in the knock-out stage. I want to really commend the organizers because this is just the same with what we used to play outside Nigeria. The equipment coupled with the atmosphere is of international standard.”

Cecilia Otu-Akpan of Nigeria:

“I have been playing well very well in this competition and for me this will help me get back my place in the national team. I missed out from the team during the Commonwealth Championship in India. With this tournament, I can win back my place. All the players are playing well and I know it is only the Chinese-born Congo Brazzaville’s Han Xing that may want to prove difficult for me. But I am hopeful that I will achieve something with the tournament.”
