The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Tuesday in Lausanne, Switzerland, started the hearing of UEFA President, Michel Platini, who is appealing a 90-day suspension imposed by the ruling body, FIFA.
The CAS said the hearing was only to determine whether Platini’s ban could be temporarily lifted, which would allow him to attend Saturday’s Euro 2016 group draw in Paris.
It added that may be Platini could also resume campaigning for the FIFA presidency he was seeking next year.
A ruling is likely to be issued on Friday at the latest, the CAS said.
Platini and FIFA president Joseph Blatter are suspended by FIFA for 90 days over a “disloyal payment” of 2 million dollars Platini recieved in 2011 for work done for FIFA between 1998 and 2002.
Both men have protested their innocence but face bans from FIFA’s adjudicatory chamber which is to issue a ruling later in December.
