The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has praised security personnel and other individuals involved in the safe rescue of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State.
Obi made the commendation in a statement issued on Saturday in Enugu.
He said he was deeply relieved by the safe return of the children and thanked everyone who contributed to securing their freedom.
According to him, the rescue was a welcome development and a moment of gratitude for the families, schools and communities affected by the abduction.
Obi specifically commended security operatives and those who worked quietly behind the scenes to ensure the children were released safely.
He said their efforts showed the importance of commitment, coordination and effective action in responding to security threats.
While celebrating the children’s rescue, Obi warned that the repeated abduction of schoolchildren remained a serious national concern.
He said no child should experience the trauma of kidnapping or be forced to pursue education in fear.
The former governor urged governments at all levels to strengthen Nigeria’s security system and make the protection of lives and property a top priority.
According to him, every Nigerian child deserves access to education in a safe and peaceful environment.
Obi called for sustained efforts to build a country where children can attend school without fear of violence, abduction or insecurity.
