Pessimism: NFF warns Nigerians

Chairman of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, has advised football fans and enthusiasts alike against pressing the panic button, following the Super Eagles’ 0-0 draw with Tanzania in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
The highly-experienced administrator, who steered Enyimba FC to two successive CAF Champions League titles in 2003 and 2004, and has a 15-year experience in African football, maintained that there is no cause for alarm as regards Nigeria’s quest for a place in Gabon.
“There is the tendency for people to start finding faults, to start pressing the panic button. I say no to anything like that. We have drawn the match against Tanzania but there are still four matches left in the race and I have confidence in the technical crew to give us the results we need in those matches to qualify.
“This is not the time for name –calling. We should give support to the technical crew and the players. The Nigeria Football Federation certainly worked hard to see that the team won in Tanzania, but it didn’t happen and we just have to look ahead.”
Anyansi-Agwu also posited that the present squad has a great future.
“I see a great future ahead and I am very serious about it. When you are in a situation of re-building, you have to exercise patience. It is the attitude that matters and I see a great attitude with this group.
