bamanga_tukur2The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has promised to cooperate with the Chinese Peoples National Congress to strengthen its leadership, control, sustainability and dependence.

The PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, made this known in Abuja on Wednesday when Mr Zhang Dejiang, the Chairman of the congress visited him.

“The need for the enactment of true party values between both parties and their countries are of paramount importance to us all.

“This will help to streamline ideologies, modify beliefs, manage conflicts and accelerate functionality of internal party democracy,’’ Tukur said.

He added that such cooperation would help set new roles and make those entrusted with the leadership of the PDP to acquire more zeal and exposure internally and internationally.

“Certainly, when bilateral ties are concretised, political actions will be stimulated to eliminate impending political barriers and complexities of diversity will be minimised,’’ he said.

Tukur also stressed the need for both countries to expand their areas of cooperation for mutual benefits and the world at large.

He noted the unequalled powers vested on party leaders in the Chinese Communist Party and the excellent orientation of its members.

Tukur also noted the validity of ideologies and the vast experience of the dynamics of party administration in the communist party.

“We shall, therefore, imbibe your system of power control, mobilisation, tradition, disciplinary trends, internal conflict resolution, funding, support and techniques in our political structure.’’

Responding, Dejiang said that his visit was prompted by the invitation he received from President Goodluck Jonathan, when the president visited China in July.

He promised to share experience with the PDP on party building as the ruling party in Nigeria, adding that the congress would teach the party how to develop party politics.

Nigeria shares a lot in common with China in areas of culture, economy, politics, governance and infrastructure.

The Chinese Peoples National Congress, which was formed in 1921, has 85 million members.
