The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deepened.
On Monday, the party leadership suspended its former National Secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former National Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje; former Deputy National Chairman, Sam Sam Jaja; and Senator Ibrahim Kazaure.
Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun State, was reinstated as the party’s National Secretary last week by the Court of Appeal presided over by Justice Abdul Kafarati.
Oyinlola was preparing to resume at the Wadata House, Abuja secretariat of the party, when the suspension order was slammed on him and the others.
To prevent a breakdown of law and order, heavily-armed security agents have been deployed to the secretariat.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, announced the suspension.
He revealed that they were suspended for alleged anti-party activities and warned that any party members who interacts with them would suffer the same fate.
On the court order reinstating Oyinlola, Metuh said: “We don’t even have a copy of the judgement of the court, let alone talking about reinstatement. You see, the so-called New PDP engages in over-dramatisation of issues. Rather than taking up issues with them, we have decided to focus on our work at the secretariat”.
