A leading candidate for the position of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
Chief Bode George, on Friday, visited former party chairmen, Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo, and Alhaji Bamanga Tukur in Abuja.
George said he visited the duo to inform them of his desire to lead the party.
The PDP National Convention holds in Abuja on December 9.
George acknowledged the role Tukur played in the formative period of the party and observed that the first financial commitment that was made to rent Wadata House was funded by Tukur.
Tukur responded that the PDP was founded on good principles.
While he noted that the party may have derailed along the line, he is hopeful that when people of strong principles like George are willing to rectify the wrongs on the ground, there is yet hope for the resuscitation of the party.
He praised George for his patriotism and his unwavering dedication “to the growth of our nation”. Tukur said he is extremely pleased that “George has never for once wavered in the pursuit of the good cause and the greater glory of our nation”.
Nwodo lauded George for his selflessness and his instinctive willingness to serve the nation, frowning at the spate of indiscipline and impunity which can derail the stability of the party.
He expressed his willingness to support George’s aspiration.
