Hundreds of residents trooped out in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Sunday, for treatment in the free medical mission organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the September 22 governorship election, Gboyega Oyetola.
The medical mission started in Ejigbo on Saturday.
It will be taken to eight other towns, including Iwo, which will take its turn on Monday.
The other towns listed to have a feel of the programme are Ila Orangun, Ede, Ikirun, Ilobu, Ilesa, Ife and Ikire.
Residents were given instant treatment for eye, teeth, hernia and general examination free of charge.
Drugs were instantly dispensed.
Dr. Adebola Odunsi, a Coordinator of the Development Support Initiative, said apart from teeth removal, issuance of glasses and general treatment, 45 surgeries for cataract, hernia and others were scheduled after the outreach at Ejigbo.
He said a higher number for surgeries was expected in Osogbo.
The surgeries are to be carried out from Monday.
Odunsi said the DSI had carried out missions in Lagos, Ekiti, Oyo and Anambra States.
Oyetola said the programme was a foretaste of how seriously his administration would take healthcare.
Two hundred and fifty personnel, including 30 doctors, 15 nurses, five dental surgeons, six eye surgeons, 21 rye doctors, 20 dentists, 10 pharmacists among others are on the Osun State mission.
The candidate received a warm reception when he appeared at the Freedom Park venue.
Oyetola promised an administration that will take the interest of the masses at heart.
