Mrs Ngozi Obiefule, the outgoing lawmaker representing Isu state constituency, says she secured single digit interest loans, employment and scholarships for her constituents while she served.
Obiefule, who served from June 2015 to June 2023 made the disclosure while appraising her performance as a legislator in an interaction with newsmen in Owerri, on Sunday.
The two term lawmaker said the loans and business startups, provided for her constituents from 16 autonomous communities, ranged from N100,000 to 1,000,000 while jobs were provided for 99 youths from the constituency in the state civil service.
This, she said, was in addition to free registration for the West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination for over 200 indigent students and 220 indigent pupils for the First School Leaving Certificate Examination while presenting over 29 motions and six bills.
She added that she provided free treatment of breast cancer and other diseases, gave out COVID-19 palliatives to 160 vulnerable persons, refurbished constituents’  burnt houses and fully  paid visa, accommodation, and school fees for four Isu youths for their Masters Degree in Cyprus.
“ We have a standing treatment instruction to Isu people at the Mother of Mercy Hospital, Orlu, which over 100 people have benefited from.
“ I brought justice to Chigaemezu Uzoma and Chinanu Nwosu who were unlawfully killed by vigilante group of Owerri-Ebeiri.
“And settled the murder case of Mr Mmaduabuchi Ahamefule from Umuemeziem village in Umundugba community who died in a riot on Jan. 6, 2020 at the LGA headquarters.
“ I carried out a visibility study of Isu surveillance, organized the 2022 new year celebration with police officers in Isu council area, attracted the rehabilitation of four roads and sustained scholarship grants for seven Isu students pursuing their studies abroad “, she said.
She advised the incoming Assembly to insist on legislative training for better impact and to desist from witch hunting and suspension of members for no just cause.
She thanked Gov. Hope Uzodimma for his milk of human compassion and for creating the enabling environment for synergy between the executive and legislative arms.
She wished the 10th Imo Assembly well and enjoined residents of the state to support government’s policies and programs for their overall good and the development and advancement of the state.
