The Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Mr Adewale Egbedun, has urged the ad hoc committee, saddled with the screening of the  commissioners nominees to discharge its duties without bias and in the overall interest of the state.

Egbedun said this on Tuesday during plenary session at the Osun House of Assembly Complex in Osogbo.

The speaker, who urged the committee to conduct the screening with fairness and overall interest of the state, cautioned the lawmakers to shun unnecessary politicking during the exercise.

It would be recalled that Osun House of Assembly had on Friday announced the 25 names of commissioners’ nominees sent to it by Gov. Ademola Adeleke for screening and confirmation.

The speaker therefore inaugurated a seven-man ad hoc screening committee to screen the nominees on Wednesday and Thursday.

In another development, two private members’ bills, sponsored by the lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency, Mr Adewunmi Adeyemi, were presented and read.

The speaker, however, read the Bills titled: Osun State Community Social Responsibility Bill 2023 and Osun State Local Content Bill 2023.

According to him, the bills seek to cater for the socio-economic needs of the people of the state and promote local trade.

Subsequently, the bill seeking the reversal of the Osun State Anthem, Crest and Flag was equally read and passed for second reading
