Mr Muslihudeen Adekilekun, a House of Representatives candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun, has embarked on a three-day free medical outreach for 4,000 members of his constituency
Adekilekun told the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Ede that the program, which was designed to cater for the basic health care of members of his constituency, was flagged off on Saturday and would end on Monday.
Adekilekun, who is contesting for Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, said the free medical care was part of his contributions to the wellbeing of his constituents.
While noting that access to quality healthcare was a fundamental right of every Nigerian, Adekilekun expressed concern that many could not afford simple basic healthcare due to financial challenges.
” I am  providing free medical services to mostly indigent people in my constituency. This is borne out of my concern for their wellbeing, and it will run for three days.

“The first two days will be  for people in Ede North, Ede South and Egbedore Local Governments, while on Monday, which is the last day, it will be in Ejigbo local area,” he said.

Adekilekun, who noted that the free medical outreach did not have any political coloration, said it was aimed at lessening the healthcare problems of the people in his constituency, irrespective of their political affiliations.

On his political ambition, Adekilekun said he was hopeful that he would win the election “because I know that I have the goodwill of my people”.

” I have been of service to people of my constituency long before my foray into politics. I have been distributing relief materials to them during festive periods and I was also there for them during the Covid 19 pandemics.

“My contributions towards the wellbeing of my constituents also include sponsorship to deaf students, numbering over 40 in the primary and secondary school units of Premier College of Education in Ede since 8 years ago.

“I have also provided scholarship to indigent students from Edeland for higher education,” Adekilekun said.

He said if elected, he would continue to provide dividends of democracy for his constituents.

The beneficiaries of the free medical care were screened and diagnosed of blood pressure, diabetes and eye disorder, among others.

One of the beneficiaries, Ahmed Bashiru, commended Adekilekun for the gesture, saying “many Nigerians are  sick without money for treatment”.

“This free medical care will go a long way towards assisting the masses, especially those who are sick and do not have money to treat themselves.

” We appeal to him that if elected, he should not stop the good work,” Bashiru said.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Grace Jabarul, also described the free medical care as a welcome development.

Jabarul said the medical care would help to alleviate the medical stress of the masses.
