My Lord Justice Moshood Akintunde Akinfemi Abass was sworn in yesterday, 11th October, 2021 by his Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Makinde, at the Council Chamber as the President, Customary Court of Appeal, Oyo State. I congratulate my Lord and pray that Almighty Allah will be with him in the discharge of this onerous duty.
We are happy to felicitate my Lord on this feat because, my Lord while serving as a judge of the Oyo State High Court, brought to bear his brilliance and clear understanding of the law. My Lord is always ready to learn from lawyers. He never exhibited ” a know all” mentality throughout his period as a judge of the High Court.
Amazing thing about my Lord is his humility. My Lord extends courtesy to both old and young at the bar. Very approachable, firm and compassionate. His mastery of rules of court and the law is undoutably superb. I am very sure that every lawyer would have been glad to witness the swearing-in of my Lord if such opportunity was presented to show the love we have for my Lord.
Now that my Lord has assumed the headship of the Customary Court of Appeal, it is our sincere hope that my Lord will do everything within his powers to turn around the fortunes of the court. The profundity of the judgment that will emanate from that court should reflect the industry my Lord is noted for. My Lord should also use his good offices to push for the appointment of more judges of that court to enable the court to conveniently constitute two panels at every point in time.
I wish my Lord successful tenure of office.
