OPC reaffirms commitment to true restructuring, regional integration

Communique issued at the end of a two-day meeting of the National Coordinating Council (NCC) of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) led by Otunba Gani Adams in Lagos

At the end of a two-day incisive and robust deliberations, the congress arrived on the following decisions:
1. The OPC reaffirmed its commitment to the true restructuring of Nigerian Polity on fiscal federalism based on the outcome of the recommendations of the National Conference held in 2014 in Abuja.

2. Congress also appealed to the Federal Government to create an enabling environment and diversify the economy for tourism to thrive in Nigeria,

3. OPC reiterated the need for the unity of Yoruba race. Without unity, the OPC believes there would be no way to tap into our potential. OPC also salutes Yoruba sons and daughters who are members of Oodua Progressive Union for their commitment and dedication to the promotion of the unity of Yoruba race in the Diaspora despite the economic challenge being faced globally and their tight schedule.

4. The OPC canvas for regional integration and economic cooperation among all the states within the south west of Nigeria.

5. The OPC appeals to the Federal Government to fulfill the contractual obligations executed between Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Donyx Global Concept Ltd by paying the consideration of the contract executed between March-June, 2015.

6. The OPC commends the Federal Government on the new initiative for cultural tourism in the country.

7. The OPC enjoins the Federal Government to review the economic policy of the country in order to ameliorate the sufferings of the average Nigerian.

8. The OPC asks that the Federal Government look into the agitations of MASSOB and IPOB and dialogue with the protesters for an amicable resolution of the ongoing raging issue.

9. The OPC also enjoins the Federal Government to uphold the rule of law, equity and to be of good conscience regarding Mr. Daniel Kanu’s trial.

10. The OPC appeals to Yoruba Obas, who as custodians of Yoruba Culture and Tradition, to promote Yoruba culture and the three major religions in the country in order to enhance and ensure the development of the south west in particular and the country in general.
