One killed, many injured as soldiers, NDLEA operatives attack Edo community

Edo State House of Assembly has condemned the attack by some soldiers and operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Ukpuje Community in Owan West Local Government of the state on October 27.

The Speaker, Chief Blessing Agbebaku, made this known during plenary on Tuesday in Benin.

Agbebaku said that the attack led to the unfortunate death of one person, while several others were seriously injured.

Agbebaku appealed to Governor Monday Okpebholo and the Commissioner of Police to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The lawmakers condemned the vicious attack on the people of Ukpuje community, which led to the gruesome murder of one person and several others injured by soldiers and operatives of NDLEA.

The lawmakers unanimously appealed that a panel of enquiry be set up to investigate the unfortunate incident.

In another development, the lawmakers screened three nominees, namely Felix Imoisilli, Prof. David Osifo and Martins Omozogie as members of the Edo State Judicial Service Commission.
